5 ways to connect with your city government

single-meta-cal October 21, 2016

Whether you are a digital native or not, connecting with your city government should not be rocket science. Thankfully, there are many, easy ways for citizens of Huntsville to tune in to city news, learn about city services, report issues and give feedback to City Hall.

We’ve listed 5 easy ways to connect with your city government below:

Connect with your City Government via our Website

The City of Huntsville launched a brand new website in August of 2016. HuntsvilleAL.gov is fully responsive – meaning the website will automatically fit the screen of any device you view it from. This is important because as a smart, busy city, most Huntsvillians are always on the go. If you need to look up the garbage schedule for an upcoming holiday and don’t happen to be near a desktop computer, having a ‘fully responsive website’ means that information is easy to view on the screen of your mobile phone or tablet.

The new City website includes a calendar of events to stay updated on city happenings and a robust media center that includes news releases, the latest city videos and important public notices. You can also find a plethora of information on city departments, City Council agendas, job postings, bus schedules, business license applications, zoning information and much, much more.

We want your feedback on the City’s website. Fill out this survey and let us know what you like about the website and ways we can improve.

Connect via Public Meetings

From City Council to the Planning Commission, the Board of Zoning Adjustment and more, there are numerous monthly opportunities to make sure your voice is heard. All public meetings have time dedicated to public comment, and it’s our responsibility as citizens to speak up about issues you care about. All governments work best that way. How do I find out about these numerous public meetings, you might ask? Easy. Click the links above or use the ‘search’ bar on the City’s website to find info about additional public meetings. The City Calendar is also a great “one-stop shop” way to find out about public meetings.

Connect through Social Media

The City of Huntsville and various City departments are active on a variety of social media channels. From YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, we want to make sure no matter which platform you prefer, you have a way to get important city updates via social media. Check out this handy social media directory and follow along.
