Get to know Cory Green, Huntsville Fire & Rescue recruiter

single-meta-cal August 4, 2021

As Huntsville Fire & Rescue’s lead recruiter, I get a lot of questions about how I landed this role. The truth is, I had no idea this is where I’d end up or that I’d one day be recruiting the brightest women and men to join this department.

I grew up with the belief that I would someday make the world a better place. I was raised in Huntsville by a single mom who had a big heart for helping others, which inspired and gave me the confidence to join Huntsville Fire & Rescue when I was 19.

Prior to becoming a firefighter, I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do, but I did know I wanted to make a difference in my community. I didn’t know how much of a positive impact I would make for my City and the people who live here.

Best decision ever

It’s been 10 years since I joined the department, and it’s truly one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’ve been on the HAZMAT team, currently serve on the Heavy Rescue Team and I’m also a driver-engineer for the department. I love everything about my job and look forward to what the future may bring.
